Doing more with less
Since its establishment, Huntersvlei Farm has adapted its farming methods to focus on conservation, precision, no-till agricultural techniques as well as cover crop rotation, leading to improved water infiltration, soil health and microbiology on our arable land.
The farm also strives to reduce its reliance on chemical fertilisers through composting farm by-products.
We have adopted a holistic farming model which manages crop production and livestock production as two co-dependent parts of the one farming system. Our goal is to farm in harmony with nature.
We would not be able to farm with out the natural resources of soil and rain. To ensure our future sustainability we are driven to take care of these natural resources. Our approach to farming has been driven and adapted by the need to rejuvenate our soils and conserve water received from rain.
We continue to be a mixed crop farming enterprise planting white maize, yellow maize, sunflower and groundnut in rotation on Huntersvlei Farm.

Huntersvlei farm is managed according to the principle of ‘doing more with less’. It is our goal, through the use of precision technology, to generate more output with less inputs, striving to farm more in harmony with nature, regenerating our soils, and being economically efficient and sustainable.
